Elena Fuller

I got into walking after my mum, a keen rambler, passed away. I kept her walking boots and a year later joined the Metropolitan Walkers Ramblers group. Six years later I’ve walked all around the UK and as far as Asia and made some wonderful friends and memories along the way. So when one of those good friends asked if I would like to volunteer at the Ramblers I said course I would, after everything walking has given me!

Volunteering at the Ramblers office in London has been a really rewarding experience. I've been helping the Facilities Manager to streamline the library and make it a space the team can use to relax in and enjoy. And once a week I've been working with the Ramblers Routes team to develop the online library of walking routes.

However the best thing about volunteering at the Ramblers is working with the lovely bunch of people at the office. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and helpful. The dedication of the Ramblers team has helped me find focus in my own work as a writer and the experience I’ve gained will really benefit my goal to work with a charity in the future.
