Group name: East Devon
This group is a part of Devon Area.
Our activities include:
Short and easy walks
East Devon Ramblers are a very enthusiastic and friendly group, and we invite you to walk with us. Visitors and new members are most welcome. We offer a choice of 6 varied walks a week, ranging from a leisurely half-day stroll to a full-day strenuous hike.
STOP PRESS: East Devon Group’s 50th birthday celebration!
In view of restricted car parking at the venue, please car-share wherever possible.
Some Leaders will wish to limit the numbers on their walks, due to such factors as crowding on popular paths on their route, the availability of car parking, etc., so will ask walkers to pre-book in the 6 days before a walk — this will be clearly stated in our programme.
If the Leader requires pre‑booking, and your call goes to voicemail:
- Please provide your name and contact number, SLOWLY and CLEARLY
- The Leader can then allocate you a place (or wait‑list you) in time-stamp order
Please watch out for additional "pop-up" walks, any last-minute road/access changes, and possible cancellations, by checking "Last-minute Walk Updates", the "Find a Walk" page, or on the Mobile App (Android, Apple).

Why walk with us?
It's a great way to walk in good company, meet new people, stay or get fit, and simply enjoy our stunning coastline and countryside. We reached our 50th year in 2020, so you can be confident you will be joining a successful and well established, locally run group.
Where do we walk?
Usually in and around East Devon and West Dorset, but occasionally further afield to Dartmoor and Exmoor, as well as other parts of Devon, Dorset, and Somerset. A number of our walks include sections of the Jurassic Coast, Britain's first natural World Heritage Site.
The group also organises a variety of other activities:
- walking holidays in Britain, and occasionally Europe
- social events such as quiz nights, skittles, barn dances and suppers
- an annual Christmas lunch
The Ramblers are the largest representative body of walkers in the UK and we support the Ramblers’ objectives of protecting and enhancing public paths through our local network of footpath officers and by supporting Pathwatch.
