Friday 3 - Monday 6 May 2019 in Melrose, Scottish Borders
Our annual volunteer-run festival, The Gathering, will be held in 2019 in Melrose; a Borders town with easy access to the Eildon Hills and other fine local walking areas. Eildon Ramblers will host the event, and organise many walks mainly starting and finishing in Melrose. The Gathering will open with a get-together on Friday evening when the programme of walks will be discussed in detail. Registration Any member of Ramblers living in Scotland is welcome to register using the Event Booking Form below. The event costs £20 per person, which allows the organisers to arrange transport to the walks and evening entertainment during the weekend. Attendees should organise their own accommodation, food and transport to/from Melrose. Accommodation The Gathering 'hub' will be the Waverley Castle Hotel in Melrose, where a deal has been arranged for a limited number of rooms with a dinner, bed and breakfast (DBB) rate for three nights:
To secure a room, please submit the Accommodation Booking Form. A limited amount of other accommodation is also available in the area. Walks There will be a choice of walks on Saturday and Sunday, with knowledgeable leaders, back and middle markers from the local groups in fluorescent jackets or rucksack covers, and carrying first aid kits. There will also be one walk on Monday morning. Our former convener Jim Lawson will once again lead his popular 'Stroller' walks, taking a relaxed pace and not involving any transport.
No dogs are allowed on walks at the event. More information Please email gathering@ramblers.org.uk.
