NE Hants group of the Ramblers is based in the Farnborough, Aldershot and Fleet area and is the local group of the Hampshire area of the Ramblers covering Rushmoor and Hart districts.

Walks led by Members of the Group

If you have become interested in walking during the pandemic and would like to walk in the lovely countryside in Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and beyond but are unsure about finding your way following a map or route instructions or perhaps have concerns about your personal safety?

Walking with the North East Hants Ramblers group on walks led by our experienced walk leaders removes the uncertainty of losing your way and any concerns about your personal safety. You’ll be walking with like-minded people and maybe make new friends.

The following photos give an idea of the countryside we have walked through.

Social Activities

In normal times the group has an active social programme but until further notice all planned social events have been cancelled. The highlight in previous years has been the October Weekend. These are usually three night with occasional four night breaks staying in good walking country around the UK. Our last October weekend was in 2019 based in Croyde Bay in Devon. In previous years we have visited the Linconshire Wolds, Isle of Wight, North Wales, and Cornwall.

Some photos from the 2019 October Weekend.

Rights of Way (Footpaths, Bridleways etc.)

The group is active in rights of way work, with representatives from the group covering parishes in Hart and Rushmoor districts. Rights of way are checked regularly and any problems are reported to Hampshire County Council in an endeavour to keep the rights of way in our area in good order, easy to use and well way marked.

Volunteers are always needed to help with this work.

The group is also active with practical work in conjunction with Hampshire County Council clearing rights of way (before)

and after

We have built sleeper bridges

installed kissing gates

and built steps

New Members

New members are always welcome. Walkers should be able to walk the distance stated in the programme and are expected to be suitably clothed and shod for walking the distance. Hampshire can be moderately hilly and muddy and new walkers are expected to be able to cope with this. Visitors from other Ramblers Association groups are always welcome to walk with us.

Ramblers Walking Holidays

The group are proud to be affiliated with the Walking Partnership. Help support our group by booking your walking holidays with Ramblers Walking Holidays or Adagio and nominate North East Hampshire Group when booking to ensure that we receive vital funds through the Walking Partnership.
