Getting to walks
Most of our walks start from a rural car park, which may not be accessible by public transport. For long walks, we usually organise car-sharing from Barnet. Click on the walk title in the Our group walks menu on this page for details of where to meet and the leaving time, if car sharing is available.
What to bring
Walking boots, waterproofs, plenty of water, packed lunch (on full day walks) and a backpack to carry them in.
Coming on a walk for the first time
Unless the wallk description states that booking is required, it isn’t necessary to let anyone know you’re coming along. Simply turn up about 10 minutes before the walk is due to begin and introduce yourself to the leader.
Dogs on walks
Most of our leaders are happy to have one or two dogs on a walk, but it is up to the individual leader – please phone the leader to check before you come. Please keep your dog on a fixed lead whenever appropriate, to make sure they don't cause problems to other walkers or livestock. Assistance dogs are always welcome.
