Fund Raising Event on behalf of Myeloma UK

Coffee, tea, cakes and chat

Threlkeld Village Hall, Wednesday 8th June 14.30 - 16.30

Many of you will be aware that one of our members, Stuart Gran, has been diagnosed with Myeloma.  Early in his diagnosis Stuart was planning to organise a Coffee Morning as a fundraiser for Myeloma Research. The rapid progression of his disease has prevented this.On 6th June Stuart will be 70, to mark this a fundraising event will be held, all proceeds of which will be donated to Myeloma UK on Stuart’s behalf.

As a venue, Threlkeld gives opportunity for walks of all grades. It is hoped that by holding the fundraising event on a Wednesday afternoon there will be support after programmed walks for tea. There will be no charge but donations will be welcomed.

If you are a walk leader and planning a walk for 8th June please consider the Threlkeld locality to give participants the opportunity to call at the Village Hall.  If you are not walking but would like the opportunity to catch up with Ramblers friends, old and new, do come along, we would love to see you!  If you would like to support the event but are unable to attend, donations  can be given to any committee member or walk leader.

On behalf of Stuart and Myeloma UK, many thanks.

One of our active members will be 90 in July, also this year we have other members who will be 80 and a quite a large number who will be 75 so it seems a good opportunity to celebrate these birthdays. This celebration will be on the evening of the 16 September in Langwathby Village Hall with the food provided by Janet Davis at the Langwathby Café, who has provided us with excellent suppers in previous years.  In addition, it should be a good opportunity to meet and socialise without worrying about Covid.  Full details will be sent out in due course but please put the date in your diary now.
If you are one of those having a special birthday this year, please will you let Jean Bradshaw know on or 01768 865240 or 07885316036.  In addition, please will you search out a photo of yourself as a baby or a toddler, so we can have a competition to guess who is who.
