History of Fylde Group

We are a group of people from all age ranges, brought together by a love of walking and the countryside. Our group was formed in 1980, when a public meeting was convened in Wesham and the group was formally launched. In the intervening years the group has faithfully followed the Ramblers Association objectives, vigorously defending local paths and providing a varied walks programme in many parts of the North-west.
On this site you can find details of our walks programme, reports of various walks, news of events, contact details, etc. or you can go to the Fylde website by clicking on the following link http://www.fylderamblers.org.uk/index.htm where you will find our walks listed as well as photographic records of walks going back to 2008

Our Walks

We organise a varied walks programme to suit all abilities ranging from an easy 5 mile amble on Sunday afternoon to strenuous full day walks of 10 to 15 miles in mountainous areas.

Note: Please be aware that it is occasionally necessary to cancel walks at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. Every effort is made to add such changes to the website, but it is always advisable to contact the leader on the phone number supplied.

Social events

Our social committe arranges social events, for example, weekends away in the Lake District in Summer.

Footpath Maintenance

We regularly monitor the condition of footpaths, styles and bridges etc. reporting any discrepancies to the relevant authorities in line with the Ramblers Association objectives

Campaigning for walking

We also campaign to promote the health benefits of walking and some of our members recently walked with local MP's from Lytham to Bispham to promote Government interest in a National Coastal Path

If you feel that you would like to join in any of our activities then please get in touch and we would be delighted to hear from you
