New Walk Leaders Wanted
Chester le Street Ramblers is a group of over 100 like-minded people who enjoy regular walking in Northumbria. We pride ourselves on being a friendly group who also meet for other social activities during the year.
Over the first half of 2022, we will offer over 30 Walks to our members, divided into longer Sunday and shorter Thursday walks. However, did you know this schedule depends on just 12 volunteer Walk Leaders? We need to invest in new Leaders to safeguard the future.
Why become a Walk Leader?
An individual walker will have enjoyed the countryside from many years of solo and group walking, gaining planning and navigation skills. There may be a desire to pass on the pleasure of outdoor exercise, also give back by offering expertise to others.
How can we help?
You may ask “Do I have the required expertise to lead walks?”. The short answer may well be “Yes”, and we can support your development through an friendly informal Mentoring Scheme.
We are setting up a Contact List of experienced Walk Leaders. Assistance could range from advice on planning a route, doing a recce, or just answering a few questions over the telephone. Your personal Contact will work with you on the steps towards leading your own walks.
How do I start?
