Note that walks may be changed and added.  These changes will be advertised in Our group walks on this webpage

WE ARE WALKING ON THURSDAYS AND SUNDAYS.  HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON

Where are our walks?  Walks are In Shropshire, Powys, Cheshire, Wrexham, and further afield particularly north and mid Wales. We also have awayday walks sometimes by coach, particularly to the coast.

Can non-members come on our walks? Non-members are very welcome to join as guests for 3 walks to try us out. Ramblers members from other groups and areas are, of course, welcome too.

How easy or difficult are our walks? All walks advertised on the website have a grade - easy, leisurely, moderate, strenuous.  - for info on what this means see here
  • Thursday walks: usually approx 4 to 7 miles. Occasionally longer, full day walks.  Grade easy, leisurely or moderate.
  • Sunday walks: usually longer or more challenging walks, moderate to strenuous.
Do I need to book? No, you don't need to book. Do contact the walk leader if you have any questions about the walk.

Where are walks advertised? Walks will be advertised on this website under "Our group walks".  We produce a programme for 4 months Nov-Feb, Mar-June, July-Oct which is available here

How do I get to the walks? We encourage car sharing wherever possible as it is better for the environment and parking at the starting point of the walk can be limited.  Also not everyone can drive or has access to a car. The meeting point on bothThurdays and Sundays will be Gatacre car park in Oswestry behind Woodside school  (usually at 10am on Thursdays and various times on Sundays). You may travel direct to the starting point if you prefer but do bear in mind parking limitations.

What should I bring with me? Remember to bring drinks and a snack, a packed lunch is needed for longer walks.  Check with walk leader if uncertain. For most walks you should wear walking shoes or boots and bring warm, waterproof clothing

What about safety? The walk leader will give a welcome briefing about what to expect on the walk.  Please follow all safety advice from the walk leader - they will have carried out a risk assessment.

Ramblers Guidance on walking and COVID is available here

Can I bring my dog? Only registered assistance dogs are allowed on Oswestry Ramblers walks.
