The beginning of October saw almost 40 of us head to Menai Bridge, Anglesey, where the majority stayed at The Victoria Hotel.
The Friday afternoon saw the majority of us walking to Penmon Point and Puffin Island (above) followed by a cream tea.
Saturday saw us heading to the North East of the island, with the long walk near Cemaes Bay and Amlwch, the short and medium near Moelfre, where both of these shorter walks visited a Neolithic burial chamber (below) and Din Lligwy, an ancient site of well-preserved stone-built huts in an enclosure dating from the Roman-British period, before decending to Traeth Lligwy and a coastal walk to either Moelfre or slightly further to Bull Bay.
On Sunday, we offered something completely different as we headed into Snowdonia – the tougher walk went from Nant Peris to Y Garn, where the weather conditions forced an early descent before the summit of Elider Fawr. For the easier options, we parked near Llanberis and walked above Lake Padarn with a longer option to complete a circuit of the lake. We had lovely views of Snowdon and no rain!!
Finally on the Monday, we all headed on various routes to Llandwyn Island (visited by Julia Bradbury in her last series). The weather must have been good as a number of us ended up paddling back along the beach.
Thanks to Peter, Jane and Pam (Jane's Mum) for leading the walks.
