Group name: Ipswich & District
This group is a part of Suffolk Area.
Our groups help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. Most groups organise regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.
New walkers are always welcome to join any Ipswich Group walk. Please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the time given in the programme to introduce yourself and meet your leader and change footwear, etc. The time given in the programme is when the party sets off, so please get there earlier. You won't need any special equipment for the majority of our walks. Strong shoes or boots and appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, e.g. waterproofs, are recommended. On a hot, sunny day, you may want to bring a sun-hat, sunglasses and sun cream! The main thing is to be aware of possible changes in the weather and bring appropriate protection. On whole day walks, bring a packed lunch if indicated on the programme. On morning walks there is usually a short apple stop approximately half way round. (WCs) indicates that there are public toilets at the start of the walk. Participants may bring dogs on group walks, but please walk at the rear and keep them under control at all times. Be aware that there may be stiles on many walks, which some dogs could find difficult. Any questions, please contact any of the committee members listed on the Ipswich Ramblers website who will be happy to help.
