About Our Walks

The BiBirmingham Ramblers metal pin badgermingham Group has several types of walk to suit all abilities. Here’s a summary:

Leisurely: Our Thursday and Saturday short walks are from 3-5miles  and are accessible by either public transport or car in Birmingham. They take place in parks and country parks and local countryside areas and are generally easy walking. Occasionally they might include some rougher terrain and hills, such as the Lickey Hills country park.

Leisurely/Moderate: On Wednesdays we have walks of 7-8 miles with a break at a pub for lunch. The start of these walks are accessible by car and sometimes by public transport. On Sundays each week, our ‘C’ grade walks are also generally 7-8 miles, with rest breaks. The terrain may vary from easy to sometimes hilly, and includes farmland and open countryside. The all-day Sunday walks are by coach from Birmingham where there will be more demanding walks (see below).

Moderate/Strenuous: These are our ‘A’ and ‘B’ grade walks, weekly on Sundays by coach. B walks are 9-11 miles and A walks 11-13 miles. Country walks for the more seasoned rambler and may include hills with substantial ascent and descent.

Strenuous/Technical: Our Saturday Ridges & Tops walks fall into this category. Often more than 12 miles in length in mountainous areas, requiring stamina and capability in difficult terrain. Monthly from Spring to Autumn. Accessible by mini-bus from Birmingham.
