Family Walking Trails Officer

Purpose of Role:

Family to Family Walking will engage families in each Valleys Regional Park Discovery Gateway area and provide training to equip them with the knowledge and skills to design and describe walking routes that will be promoted online to other families, both visitors from nearby communities as well as tourists from further afield. The postholder will develop, manage and deliver this project, and potentially another walking project, on time and within budget.

Essential Criteria
• Knowledge of the Valleys Landscape Regional Park Area
• Knowledge of methods and good practice in community engagement.
• Knowledge of the benefits of walking & a good walking environment
• Some knowledge of marketing product development and promotion, ideally of a tourism product
• Proven experience of engaging and involving members of local communities in new projects
• Proven experience of community project management and delivery
• Ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Able to work occasional evenings and weekends when required
• Willing to use own car to drive across the region
• Computer literate and administratively self-sufficient
• Commitment to the work and values of the Ramblers


Desirable Criteria
• Ability to speak Welsh
• Knowledge of the tourism industry in Wales
• Knowledge of online promotional techniques
• Experience of organising training events and leading group outings
• A love of walking and the outdoors
