Short and easy walks

From Wednesday 1 July, small group walks can restart in England - subject to the latest government guidelines.

  • Hillingdon Ramblers plan to restart their programme subject to the following conditions.
  • You must be an RA member to join a walk, and you must book with the walk leader by email.
  • The maximum number on a walk is 6 including leader.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place.
  • Do not turn up without booking as we shall have to turn you away.
  • Due to Covid-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice including the latest guidelines on physical distancing, transport, carrying a mask and hygiene. Please ensure that you have read the Covid-19 advice on the Ramblers website.
  • Please note that a record of attendance and contact details will be taken and retained for 14 days so that  walkers can be traced if necessary.

Hillingdon Ramblers offer a full programme of walks thanks to our team of dedicated walk leaders. Our programme is especially varied thanks to our location on the west side of London. Our proximity to the M40 and M25 allows us to explore the countryside of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Surrey, sharing cars whenever possible, whilst our excellent public transport allows us to access the whole of  Greater London.

Why walk with us?

Because you'll be welcomed into a friendly group made up of people from many walks of life who share a love of the countryside. We have over 300 members, but on a typical walk, there are 10-20 of us.

Where do we walk?

Our walks are listed in the clickable blue sidebar on the right of this page. As you can see, we walk extensively outside our home area, especially in the Chilterns and Surrey Hills. Saturday morning walks often start from a Metropolitan line station while Saturday afternoon walks are generally less than 30 mins drive from Hillingdon. Our Sunday and very popular Wednesday walks may venture further afield.  Of course we also have walks exploring Hillingdon and London, especially in winter, but we do like to get out into the easily accessible and beautiful countryside.

When and how far?

Our easiest-paced walks are on Saturday mornings and last about 2 hours. Saturday afternoons walks are slightly more demanding at 5 to 6 miles.  On Sundays and Wednesdays, starting mid-morning, we walk 10 to 14 miles at a moderate pace for the full day.

Walking Holidays

We also travel further afield taking a few days to explore other parts of the UK. Recent visits have taken us to the Lake District, Dorset, Exmoor and Sussex.

To see more of us, go to the top of the right-hand side-bar and click on "Pictures from Recent Walks".  If you would like to try us out then simply turn up and introduce yourself to the leader.  To join our group just click on the red banner at the top of the right-hand margin. We look forward to meeting you.
