Member satisfaction survey 2024 - highlights

In September, we invited you to take part in our annual member satisfaction survey. We received over 5,100 responses – a big thank you to all of you who found the time to give us your feedback.

We wanted to share a few highlights:

What you enjoy most about being a Ramblers member:

  • taking part in our group walks (72%)

  • discovering new routes (63%)

  • meeting people and socialising (62%)

  • and supporting the work of the Ramblers (60%)

Top-rated member benefits:

  • our membership magazine Walk (78%)

  • access to our group walks (77%)

  • the online routes library (64%)

  • and your monthly member e-newsletter (61%).

Satisfaction with overall member experience remains high, with 86% of you being either ‘very satisfied’ or ‘satisfied’.

Similarly to last year, 70% of our members participated in our group walks this year, which is fantastic to see! And we are very pleased to report that satisfaction with our walks has increased this year:

  • 85% agree it’s easy to find a Ramblers group walk

  • 91% feel welcome on our group walks

  • 94% feel safe on our group walks

  • 92% enjoy our group walks

  • 91% would recommend them to others

But we know not all our members walk with our groups. 66% of those who don’t, prefer self-guided walks, including Ramblers Routes.

55% of you downloaded the Ramblers App and there has been a significant increase in app satisfaction at 60% (up from 50% in 2023). But we also know that some of you are experiencing technical issues with the app and it’s something we take seriously and are trying to improve.

Other highlights:

  • 81% of you believe that the Ramblers increased access to the countryside

  • 81% believe that the path maintenance and improvement work of Ramblers volunteers and members has improved the path network

  • 81% believe that the Ramblers have opened up the path network for more people

As a charity, our work transforms lives and landscapes. We’re commited to a future where anyone can enjoy walking outdoors and the many benefits it offers.

Thank you again for sharing your feedback and some great ideas on how to improve your member experience.

And finally, a few comments from the survey that we thought you’d like to see:
