Almost two thirds of the population will suffer from foot or lower limb pain in their lives and many people ignore the symptoms, hoping that the pain will go away. Our feet are possibly one of the most neglected and abused parts of the body and yet we depend on our feet for almost all activities, not least rambling!
The foot has 26 individual bones - the highest concentration of articulating bones, equating to one third of the body. The foot is split into three main segments: rear foot, mid foot and forefoot and during gait each part of the foot is responsible for very different actions. Complicating matters even further, poor alignment with your whole body will cause problems, such as foot pain, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), arch pain, joint and ankle pain, knee pain, shin pain and hip or lower back pain.
Pain in our body is a way of telling us that something is wrong. When we are young, most of us do not think about our feet beyond the realms of fashion, cramming our toes into impossible shoes - high heels, sports shoes or boots which are unsuitable and ill-fitting. By the age of 50 to 60, most people’s feet simply tell a tale of time and if your feet or lower limbs are causing you pain, insoles such as ENERTOR insoles may be the solution.
ENERTOR is a global company specialising in orthotics, insoles and underfoot technology, based in the UK with over 22 years of experience in design and production, as well as taking care of patients. We pride ourselves on having helped many elite sports people and are endorsed by the fastest sprinter in the world, Usain Bolt.

Some of the most common conditions experienced by active people are Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain), shin splints and ankle pain - for these you will most likely need a shock-absorbing insole like Enertor Comfort, providing much needed cushioning between the ground and your feet. Similarly, if you suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, it is important to protect from shock underfoot, as this will reduce the forces from the foot into the knee, hip and back. Enertor Comfort can also provide relief for those with diabetes.
Many people do not realise that the poor alignment of your total body can affect your walking and running, causing pain and injuries. When preparing for your next ramble, take a look at the underside of your hiking boots. If the wear is predominantly on the inside of the boot, this suggests that you 'pronate' – in order to reduce the risk of further discomfort and injury, you should consider buying a pair of Enertor Performance insoles, which control some of the heel movements and help to stabilise the gait.
Happy Rambling from the Enertor Team!
