Pilgrimage 2012

Blaenavon June 2012

During the summer months of June and July 2012, a group of pilgrims will undertake a 22 day journey across South Wales to St Davids. The inspiration for the journey has risen from the ancient spirit of pilgrimage but also an occasion to culturally celebrate the arrival of the Olympics to Britain. Ramblers Cymru are organising some walks to join in with the Pilgrims along their route and you are welcome to lead or join a walk.

Pilgrimage 2012 is part of the Cauldrons & Furnaces series which has the ambition to tell extraordinary stories in extraordinary places. The pilgrimage will be part of that story which connects people to the history, heritage and country of Wales and invites people to participate and join parts of the pilgrimage whether it be a spiritual journey or a journey to explore the cultural heritage of Wales.

Cauldrons and Furnaces is part of the Wales wide project – Power of the Flame which has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK.
