The summer issue of Walk – the magazine of the Ramblers – is due to land on members’ doormats and newsstands in just a few days and we couldn’t resist giving you a preview of what’s coming up.
As well as regulars including the latest walking events, gear reviews and Routemaster walking guides, the latest edition also meanders down Britain's treasured waterways, sees Walk Editor Dominic Bates hit the trail in Tasmania in pursuit of the island’s infamous devil and reveals Val Rose’s experiences of leading walks for prison inmates in Portland, Dorset.
If you’ve been swept up by Games fever – and it’s hard not to be now the torch is making its merry way around the UK – you won’t want to miss the Q&A with double gold-medallist James Cracknell as he explains why it’s more important than ever to be active or Mark Rowe’s look at an Olympic legacy route developed by Essex Ramblers.
You can also find out what we’ve been up to since the spring issue with the latest walking campaign updates as well as features on Ramblers Routes, our new web project for independent walkers, and Walking for Health, the health walks scheme we'll be delivering across England.
But we wouldn't want to give the whole game away and there's plenty more to sink your teeth into in this season's Walk – you’ll have to read a copy to find out.
