Our short walks festival Get Walking Week takes place from 4-11 May and there are hundreds of free group walks on offer to help people discover the joys of exploring the outdoors and their local area on foot.
Ramblers walking groups will be inviting people to join them for some fresh air on short walks under five miles across Britain while local Walking for Health schemes will be welcoming walkers on strolls across England designed to help them get walking and keep walking.
There are also Get Walking Week celebrations to join at events in Cardiff, Hillingdon, Broxtowe and Swindon which will get the festival underway, plus family fun on offer in Wales as part of the Big Welsh Walk throughout the bank holiday weekend.
“We want people all over Britain to join the walking revolution and take their first steps towards a healthier and happier lifestyle” said Ramblers Chief Executive Benedict Southworth. “We’ve seen so many different people benefit from regular walking and we know it can make a positive impact on people’s lives.”
Find a Get Walking Week walk near you or choose from one of our Get Walking Week events. We’ll be running a photo competition throughout Get Walking Week with some great prizes on offer – look out for more details coming soon.
Get Walking Week is supporting the Britain on Foot campaign to encourage more people to get active in the great outdoors. Find out more about the festival and other ways to get walking throughout May.
