Walking along the coast is a pleasure whatever the weather, but it’s hard to beat a seaside stroll in summer when bracing winds lull to gentle breezes and the chances of needing a raincoat are slimmed – although it’s worth taking one just in case!
So what better time to download and explore one of our coastal walking routes? Our volunteers have been hard at work scouring the British seaside for the best places to go for a ramble and have created over 60 inspiring routes for you to try, available in our online collection.
From the Seven Sisters in Sussex to Land’s End in Cornwall, the Isle of Anglesey to the Isle of Wight, the Outer Hebrides to South Devon and the Norfolk coast to the North Sea beaches, there are lots of fantastic seaside destinations to choose from.
Our coastal routes are developed to the highest standard by our experienced and dedicated volunteers and are quality-checked to make sure they’re interesting, easy to follow and safe.
Each route has an online routecard featuring a description, photos and a wide choice of mapping layers – including Ordnance Survey Landranger and Ordnance Survey Explorer – as well as the option to print the route and download GPX data.
If you’re a Ramblers member and have registered on the website, you’ll have full access to all our routes. Registered non-members are limited to accessing details of shorter, introductory walking routes and there are 12 free coastal routes on offer.
And if you've got a great coastal walking route of your own you can share it with other walkers by becoming one of our route developers. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or register at www.ramblersroutes.org to get started.
