A walk back in time

Neath Abbey

We've organised a walk celebrating the history of Neath Abbey and the Cwm Valley as part of a new partnership with Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.

Local Ramblers will be joining in with the Cadw family fun day on 6 July 2013 to offer the guided walk in the company of Dr Edith Evans from the Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust.

The route will explore the local area along the Tennant Canal, which lies beside the 12th century Neath Abbey, and will pass a ruined castle and a Roman fort. The walks is also an opportunity to discover the industrial history of the Cwm Valley.

This is the first joint event we have organised with Cadw, who are the guardian of Wales' built heritage, and we hope to grow the partnership further. The family fun day is free to all and both Ramblers members and non members are welcome to join in with the walk.
