The expert view on walking

We’ve launched a new area of the website featuring in-depth advice on rights of way and access issues as well as the latest queries our Walk magazine experts have been setting their minds too.

‘The expert view’ offers insights on popular walking topics such as gear and health from those in the know and also provides detailed information on rights of way and access issues as well as useful resources to download.

“We’ve tackled subjects such as how rights of way are created, claiming unrecorded rights of way, ensuring paths are properly maintained and getting obstructions removed” says Janet Davis, Ramblers Senior Policy Officer and one of our resident experts.

“We’ve also given the Blue Book Extra, the online resource which accompanies our printed guide to rights of way law and practice, a new home,” adds Janet. “We hope people will be able to use both the advice and the Blue Book Extra resources to do help protect the places we love to walk.”

The latest addition to the Ramblers website also features queries answered by our panel of experts in Walk magazine in the last year. We’ll be adding new queries from each issue and you can also send in your own questions.

“Our experts are hand-picked for their knowledge of all things walking,” says Walk Editor Dominic Bates. “Whether you’re worried about a health issue, are looking for the latest gadget or want tips on choosing a walking holiday, they’re there to help.”

You’ll find ‘The expert view’ as part of our practical Go walking section alongside further walking advice, information on walking groups, great places to walk and walker-friendly places to stay and our ever-growing library of walking routes.
