The Cirencester Ramblers are celebrating 40 years out on the trail throughout 2014 with a series of social events and special walks tracing the routes of original outings made during the group’s inaugural year.
The Cotswolds-based group will be hosting a skittles evening, barn dance, strawberry tea with Ramblers CEO Benedict Southworth and a dinner and dance as well as a 40th birthday cake walk recreating the group’s very first walk.
The 40th anniversary walks, which will be taking place once a month, kicked off on 26 January with a walk from Kemble led by Stuart Dyer, the longest standing member of the group. They braved wet conditions to visit the village of Oaksey including the site of a WWII plane crash.
