New opportunities for young people to walk in Scotland

Edinburgh Young Walkers

Ramblers Scotland is starting a new walking group in Tayside which aims to provide people with the opportunity to get outside on foot, take part in other outdoor activities and enjoy a social scene.

The Tayside Young Walkers will be based on the successful Edinburgh Young Walkers and Glasgow Young Walkers groups, which offer activities including walking all over Scotland, path maintenance days and outdoor pursuits such as Go Ape and mountain biking.

The groups also have a broad and varied social calendar, with everything from Ceilidhs to restaurant and pub nights. The Edinburgh Young Walkers put together a great video showing just how many exciting things they get up to.

Members of these vibrant local groups also support our work to protect and promote places to walk in Scotland which includes campaigning for tighter controls on windfarms and hill tracks and maintaining access across Scotland.

The Tayside Young Walkers will be based across the region, offering people from all the local communities the chance to come together and enjoy the outdoors or even get more involved by leading walks or volunteering to be part of the inaugural committee.

If the Tayside Young Walkers sounds right up your street you can register your interest by either liking the group’s Facebook page or emailing Ben Glencross at ben.glencross@ramblers.org.uk.
