We're celebrating the news that our blogger, Walking Class Hero, has won a UK Blogger Award 2014!
The awards were created to recognise creative excellence and professional talent across a variety of 12 UK industries and our very happy blogger, who takes a sideways look at walking, was selected under the Lifestyle Organisation category.
Walking Class Hero collected the award at a ceremony at the Grange Hotel, St Pauls, London. He said, "In this instance the important thing was the taking part but of course it was flattering to win.
"There were so many talented bloggers nominated it was encouraging that our attempt to present walkers & walking through a different prism got its reward.
"Bless my cotton socks I'm in the news!"
Walking Class Hero's latest blog explores Kings Cross and discovers how old and new sit alongside one another with tales of the Iceni, Harry Potter, the Beatles and the cross itself. His popular blogs have also covered walking the South West Coast Path with Simon Armitage, the edgelands, the Ministry of Defence's Project Ubique and the transitional nature of estuaries.
As a keen fan of music, Walking Class Hero always provides a playlist with each of his blogs, and mention of beer and Chelsea FC has been known to crop up. He states that "most of what I know about Britain I’ve learnt through my feet, walking through its cities, towns and countryside" and it's fitting he has been acknowledged as a leading blogger.
If you're curious to discover what inspires Walking Class Hero (and to discover his real identity) you can join him on one of the group walks he regularly leads for Capital Walkers and the London Strollers. You can also follow @walkngclasshero on twitter.
