We're raising the profile of landscapes in the run-up to the general election to convince all political parties to commit to measures which protect and enhance landscapes.
We've come together with 27 organisations including the Campaign to Protect Rural England, the National Trust, Campaign for National Parks, National Parks England, National Association of
Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Landscape Institute to produce a shared vision for landscapes.
The new report, Landscapes for Everyone: Creating a Better Future, sets out why we believe landscapes should be better valued for the benefit of current and future
generations and what Government action is needed to help achieve this.
Ramblers’ chief executive Benedict Southworth said: ‘As Ramblers, we value landscapes for their natural beauty, tranquillity and wildlife. We also recognise that landscapes make an enormous contribution, through the recreational opportunities they offer, to the health, wealth and wellbeing of the nation. We call on the Government to protect and restore landscapes as well as the paths, trails and open green spaces which allow people to enjoy them and lead happier, healthier lives.’
England’s diverse landscapes provide the places where we live, work and play. The quality of our landscapes are vitally important for people, nature and communities but they are at increasing risk from development pressures and degradation.
Landscapes for Everyone will be launched at a Parliamentary reception today.
