We're going mobile

The times they are a-changing. And we need to keep up. So, over the next few weeks you’ll notice some improvements to our website.

Increasingly people are doing things on the move – like looking for walks and routes, and keeping up to date with our campaigns. So we’re making some technical changes to ensure that our website is simple and easy to use on mobiles and tablets, as well as on desktop computers. (It’s something tech geeks call ‘a responsive website’.)

At the same time we’re making it easier for people to find what they’re looking for. Over the coming weeks you’ll notice that some headings and menu options will change. Of course, change isn’t just for change sake; our analysis shows that some people really struggle to find what they’re looking for. And for people new to our website it can be particularly daunting.

We hope you like the changes. They should make your online experience quicker, simpler and easier.

To ensure that you can always find what you’re looking for we’ve also made some handy little links to some of our most popular content – and these links will always work:

The newsletter e-mail that led me to this page is going to be read by volunteers who are editors/designers of group and area web sites (e.g. me). Presumably the 'responsive website' team now have some guidance (what to do, what not to do, etc. ) that could be passed on to volunteers. A potential member finding the the find a group page using a mobile (tablet?) with ease and then running into difficulties when visiting a group/area site will not look good.
