Due to COVID-19, we've split our normal two-day Scottish Council format into three separate online events in 2021.
Attendees can join us from the comfort of their own homes for:
- The Dick Balharry Memorial Talk
7pm on Friday 26 February. Free and open to all Ramblers Scotland members.
We’re delighted that our speaker will be Pammy Johal, the founder and operations director of Backbone, a leading BAME outdoor environmental education charity in Scotland. Backbone has been acknowledged at a national and global level for successfully addressing diversity and inclusion in the outdoor sector.
- Scottish Council AGM
10am on Saturday 6 March. Voting delegates only.
Delegates can participate in the official business of Ramblers Scotland. Every area can send two voting delegates and groups can each send one. The AGM will include elections to Scottish Council Executive Committee (SCEC), debates on motions, and votes to approve our 2019-2020 finances and annual report. Papers relating to the AGM will be added by Friday 12 February to the Scottish Council Toolkit and final updates will be made by Thursday 4 March.
- Successes of the Year
2pm on Saturday 6 March. Free and open to all Ramblers Scotland members.
A fun and engaging Zoom call, led by our director Brendan Paddy. It's a chance to learn about our most significant projects and campaigns, and to share your views and questions. It will include updates about our ground-breaking Mapping Scotland’s Paths project, Out There Award for young adults, Walk Leadership programme, policy and campaign priorities and group successes.
If you are passionate about the outdoors and have ideas about how we can get more people walking in Scotland, why not consider standing for election to SCEC? Find out more about the strategic role that SCEC plays here. If you would like to explore this further, drop us an email here.
If you are thinking about submitting a motion to Scottish Council, you can access guides to this process within the toolkit.
This year, we will be debating important proposed amendments to our constitution, as well as a proposed name change for SCEC, so do let us know your comments as soon as possible here.
The deadline for motions is 2 February 2021 and the deadline for any amendments to motions is 27 February 2021. We would be grateful if you could contact us well before these deadlines if you intend to propose a motion.
We really look forward to you joining us for one or more elements of Scottish Council 2021.
