This spring, Wales is a nation on it’s feet, looking to get healthier. The Big Welsh Walk is around the corner and results from the Wales Pedometer Challenge so far are showing that we’re a country prepared to take a step in the right direction.

Anniversary of Kinder Scout Trespass celebrated in Sheffield

The second annual Spirit of Kinder Day took place in Sheffield on Saturday, marking the 82nd anniversary of the mass trespass on Kinder Scout in what is now the Peak District. The trespass took place at a time when much of the countryside was out of bounds to the public and was a pivotal event in the access movement which led to the creation of National Trails and National Parks.

An Ordnance Survey scheme encouraging people to trade in old maps for new has been hugely successful, with almost 4,500 maps, some nearly a century old, returned so far. The offer runs until the end of April.
