Meirionydd Ramblers help youngsters to enjoy the great outdoors

Meirionydd Ramblers recently spent time with the 1st Dolgellau Girl Guides at Coed y Brenin Forest Park in Snowdonia.

The Guides worked with Gill Caves, Group Footpath Secretary of Meirionydd Ramblers, to achieve their ‘Finding Your Way’ badge. She said “The girls really enjoyed themselves and it just goes to show the vital role footpaths can play in today’s society”.

The Guides also completed a geocaching route – an outdoor treasure hunt using GPS units to track down hidden items.

Alan Norton, Group Chair of Meirionydd Ramblers, said “On the day, unfortunately it rained, but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the girls searching for caches around the route, and some even said they enjoyed the rain.”
