Birmingham Ramblers heading out on summer evenings

City of Birmingham Ramblers

The City of Birmingham Ramblers out on the trail

The City of Birmingham Ramblers are introducing monthly short circular walks on midweek evenings throughout the summer to offer people the chance to make the most of the longer daylight hours and warmer weather during the working week.

The walks will be four miles long and take advantage of local public transport or easy parking facilities so that members of the group, or those trying out a Ramblers walk for the first time, can join in after the day’s activities are over.

“The City of Birmingham Ramblers have for many years offered a varied programme of walks to suit all abilities but our Chairman, Steve Brittain, recently suggested we should begin offering something we currently don’t: midweek evening walks,” explained David Sutton, Publicity Officer for the group.

The group’s first midweek summer evening walk will take place on Wednesday 28 May in Woodgate Valley Park with the next walk planned for Wednesday 25 June from the historic Sarehole Mill in Shire Country Park, which inspired J. R. R. Tolkien.
