Key findings from the group and area support survey

Between 9 January and 31 March 2017, we ran a survey to help us improve the support we provide for our group and area volunteers across England, Scotland and Wales. To provide a more detailed picture, we also held some phone calls and discussion groups.

We want to create a country where everyone has the freedom to enjoy the outdoors on foot and benefit from the experience. We can’t achieve this without the help of volunteers like yourself, and we want you to have the best possible support and resources.

Through the survey, we asked group and area volunteers for your views on the support you currently receive and the support you would like to have in future. We had over 650 responses, so thanks to all of you who took part in the survey, or shared your views in a discussion group or phone call. Overall, we heard from at least one volunteer from each area.

The findings will inform planning and prioritisation, by helping us identify which improvements will have the most impact. We will be in touch again with the timeframes for some initial improvements in the autumn.
