Scottish Council Challenge: Cash prizes for groups and areas

Ramblers Scotland’s Out There campaign aims to help more people enjoy Scotland’s world-class landscapes and access rights.

If your area or group has a great idea for a project or initiative that could meet our Out There objectives, but you don’t have the funds, then the Scottish Council Challenge is here for you!

The Scottish Council Executive Committee (SCEC) can offer a grant of up to £500 to any project that helps meets any one of three Out There objectives, by:

  1. Getting more paths on the ground
Attractive trails are the launch pad to fantastic adventures, so we're supporting a wide range of projects to expand and improve Scotland's path network.

  2. Getting more paths on maps
We’re helping find practical solutions to increase the number of Scottish paths shown on print and digital maps, so that more people can plan and enjoy great days outdoors.

  3. Breaking down barriers to the outdoors
We’re involved with a range of exciting activities, all aimed at tackling the barriers that stop people– especially beginners – from getting out there.

Expressions of interest should be submitted to us by Thursday 28 February 2019.  Simply email a paragraph outlining your project idea to: jeannie.cranfield@ramblers.org.uk

Those that express interest will be invited to submit an application to us by Friday 30 April 2019. If shortlisted, you will be invited into our own friendly version of the 'Dragon’s Den' to pitch your proposal to a small group of SCEC members.

The winning group will have about nine months to implement their ideas – and be invited to share their success at Scottish Council 2020. We are looking for any and all ideas so please get inspired and get involved.

Please direct any queries to jeannie.cranfield@ramblers.org.uk or call 0131 357 5850.
