Celebrating a new bridge over the River Coly

A new wooden bridge spanning a narrow river

Devon County Council recently completed the first bridge of a river-valley path, which crosses the River Coly. This is thanks to local volunteers, Rosemary and Alan Kimbell of the Ramblers, who two years ago worked tirelessly to ensure that a footpath in Devon was officially confirmed to be a public right of way.

The river-valley path winds its way through the Devon parishes of Northleigh, Farway, Colyton, and Southleigh and needs bridges installing over the river. Devon County Council have now completed the first of these, pictured above.

The Ramblers have proposed a diversion of the path to save the need for two additional bridges being built.

A great place to walk and great work by Devon County Council.

Pat and Dennis Baker

We spent much of each winter in Seaton for over 20 years and had the greatest admiration for the work that Rosemary and Alan were doing. We were so pleased to see such a positive result - congratulations to both of you! We miss the contact we had with East Devon Ramblers; we don't get to the UK (from Canada) as often now.
