Ramblers calls for new national debate on access to green spaces

Land for the Many is a new independent report commissioned by the Labour Party, published today (4 June, 2019). It proposes radical changes in the way land in the UK is used and governed, including access to the countryside and parks in urban areas.

Vanessa Griffiths, Ramblers CEO, welcomed the report:

"We all know how vital contact with nature is to both our mental and physical health. So we really welcome the aims within this report of connecting more people to nature and opening up the countryside so that it is of benefit to the many, not the few."

The report contains a number of Ramblers policies as well as some fresh thinking. Vanessa continues:

"We really hope this report will spark a new national debate on the importance of access to green spaces in our towns and cities as well as the countryside and our public rights of way network.  We stand ready to play our part and work with all political parties and partners to make greater access to city, town and countryside a reality."
