Winter ‘Where Was I?’ solution

Our winter ‘Where Was I?’ competition challenged walk readers to identify the mystery location from a photo our editor snapped while out on a recent walk (below), along with a cryptic clue...

‘This jagged top could come straight out of a fantasy film. I scrambled up its rocky parapet, sheltering from the stiff breeze, and looked back towards one of two summits or “heaps of stones” that give this mountain range its name. ’

ANSWER: Castell y Gwynt, Glyder Fach, Snowdonia [SH656583]

[Castell y Gwynt translates as ‘Castle of the Wind’, and is a rocky outcrop near the summit of Glyder Fach. It was used as a location for the 1981 Disney fantasy film Dragonslayer. Glyder, which means ‘heaps of stones’, is in the name of the two summits, Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr, that gives the Glyderau range its name].
