+ The underarm gussets and stretch panels in the lower arms and across the back allow for a generous stretch throughout. Impressively, all the zippers are coated and watertight. The microfleece-lined neck is a nice touch.
– It’s tough to expect everything in such a light jacket, but there are no internal pockets! (However, my phone stayed dry in the front-zipped and laminated pocket, even in torrential downpours.)
VERDICT: One of Patagonia’s range of affordable high-performance alpine climbing jackets, the Torrentshell’s ripstop nylon is durable yet lightweight, and we loved the minimalist design.
