Promoting walking

Walking is great in so many ways, our fantastic countryside is a joy to explore on foot, and an active lifestyle makes us all healthier and more productive. The scientific evidence for the positive benefits of walking for our mental health as well as our physical health and wellbeing is overwhelming. We work to promote walking to everyone, to make it easier for all to gain these benefits.

Car parking

We are not opposed charges for car parking but only when it’s made clear that the money raised is being used to improve facilities for walkers, such as paths, signage, toilets and other visitor infrastructure.
