Flasby Fell and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

Difficulty Moderate

Walking time 4 hours 30 minutes

Length 16.5km / 10.2mi

Route developer: Joly Braime

Route checker: Tiffany Van Der Sande

Start location Gargrave Station (SD932535)
Route Summary The pretty and perennially popular village of Gargrave is perched right at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It’s the perfect jumping-off point for a brisk spring jaunt up onto Flasby Fell, returning via a leisurely towpath bimble along the canal.

I enjoyed the outward leg of the walk and walked to the top of Rough Haw, thinking that this was Flasby Fell. When I had orientated myself I was surprised that the walk did not actually walk on the ridge of the named Fell. I found the walk along the canal a bit tedious with little of interest except the bird life. The instructions were clear and easy to follow.
