Group name: Tendring District
This group is a part of Essex Area.
Our activities include:
Path maintenance, Short and easy walks
The area covered is North East Essex, from the River Stour, the Suffolk border in the north to the coast and the River Colne the south, with the coast to the east and Colchester to the west. Towns in the district include Colchester, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze, Brightlingsea and Harwich. Large villages in the district include St Osyth and Great Bentley.
We try to cater for most walking abilities by offering regular weekly walking on Thursdays and Sundays. Walks are usually between seven and ten miles long with the occasional of eleven to fourteen miles. We also try to organise shorter half-day walks of a gentler pace twice a month on a Thursday of four to five miles, depending on the availability of a leader. Most of our walking is in Tendring and the surrounding areas which include the Dedham Vale (Constable Country) and Suffolk. Occasional walks also take place to the north and west of Colchester, as well as in Suffolk.
The only dogs permitted on walks are Registered Assistance Dogs which must be in harness at all times.
