We believe the best walks come with a sense of reward – views that take your breath away, and a refreshing pint that feels well earned. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Wainwright beer – a tribute to the great Alfred Wainwright and the beauty of the British outdoors – to share the trails that are truly Worth the Walk.
Choose a route that's worth the walk
Each of these routes offers a unique adventure, finishing at a welcoming country pub where you can toast your efforts with a pint of Wainwright beer – the perfect way to end a day outdoors. So, pick your path, stretch your legs and enjoy the kind of reward that makes every step worth it.
As Alfred Wainwright famously said, “the best views always come after the hardest climbs.” These routes prove just that – pairing stunning scenery with a well-earned pint of award-winning Wainwright beer.
1. Climb a Lake District landmark
Follow this Ramblers Route from Glenridding up to Helvellyn, England's third highest mountain. It’s a challenging but unforgettable walk, best saved for good weather. If you’re after something gentler, the Thirlmere route offers an easier climb that still delivers on views but avoids a scrambly section on Helvellyn Lower Man.
On the way you’ll pass a ruined mine, rushing waterfalls, and plenty of Lakeland sheep. From the ridge, follow the cairns to the summit of Helvellyn. At the top, you’ll find a trig-point and a small shelter but the real highlight is the sweeping views: Red Tarn and Striding Edge just below, Ullswater and Thirlmere lakes, and the surrounding Lake District Wainwright Fells stretching into the distance.
After the descent, head back to Glenridding and reward yourself with a refreshing pint of Wainwright Gold at The Travellers Rest - the perfect finish to a big day out.

2. Take a scenic loop through the Cotswolds
Starting in the lovely market town of Tetbury, this scenic, circular route from Tetbury, takes you through classic Cotswold countryside – think dry stone walls, ancient trees and postcard-perfect villages.
From the charming village of Shipton Moyne to the edge of the Highgrove estate (home to Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla), you’ll wander through peaceful fields with plenty of sheep and horses to spot along the way. It’s a quiet walk full of gentle charm, grand buildings, and rural character – and more often than not, you’ll have the views all to yourself.
And once you’re back in Tetbury, head to The Ormond in the town centre for a pint of Wainwright Gold, to toast a job well done!
