We are the Lincolnshire Area Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

Walking in Lincolnshire

The County of Lincolnshire has a population of over 1,090,000, which is easily contained within its 2200 square miles of land. So there’s plenty of room to explore! 

Lincolnshire is the second largest county in England and has some of the most stunning countryside, with the Lincolnshire Wolds designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its coastline, stretching from the Humber in the north to The Wash in the south, is a mixture of saltmarsh and fine beaches of soft, golden sand. We have the historic City of Lincoln, and fascinating towns and villages scattered around the County, which is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination. 

Our walking groups

Lincolnshire comprises nine local groups and in addition, we have a 20's to 40's Group specifically for younger folk of the Area. 

We help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. We help look after paths and green spaces, open up new places to explore and act as the leading voice on walking matters near you. We also support our local groups to organise regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness. 

The county has several long distance footpaths – some linear such as The Johnson Silver Lincs Way between Grimsby and Louth, others circular, such as the Plogsland Round circling the city of Lincoln.
