Welcome to the Sussex Area Ramblers !

We have 20 thriving Ramblers’ Groups and Affiliated Groups covering the whole of  East and West Sussex with a good choice of walks on weekdays as well as weekends.

We are lucky to have on our doorstep, amongst many other natural outdoor attractions, the South Downs National Park, the High and Low  Weald (including the Ashdown Forest) and mile after mile of accessible coastline taking in, for example, the Seven Sisters and Chichester Harbour.

Many of our walks, particularly those organised by the more urban-based groups, are available via public transport, and car sharing is often also on offer.

If you enjoy:

  • being outdoors and walking in the countryside
  • socialising and making new friends
  • being fit and healthy

then our groups will be ideal for you!

All walks are led by experienced walkers so you can relax and enjoy your time walking and socialising. You don’t need to be super fit or own much specialist kit, and the range of walks on offer allows anyone to enjoy our walks and build up fitness levels. You might want to do a hike of 10-12 miles, a medium-length walk of 5-10 miles or simply a back-to-health walk of just a mile or two - whichever it is, come and join us!
