A leisurely, mud free(ish) walk, with lovely views of South Shields. We will begin with a walk through South Marine Park and the chance of enjoying an Ice Cream. Then head south through Bents park and the Sports ground before a gentle ascent to the England Coast path to turn north. We have a gentle descent to reach Sandhaven Beach, below Trow point, and will then walk on firm sand. The view of Tynemouth Priory is stunning as we head further north, taking in the sights and sounds around us. At the end of the beach we will then head further north to Ballast Hill. There are are quite a number of steps up to Ballast Hill, but we will take our time, or there is an alternative way up to avoid the steps, but this will add on approximately 400 metres or so. On Ballast hill there are some interesting historic items to see as we head back through North Marine park to Ocean Road.
After the walk, there is the chance to enjoy delicious Fish & Chips at Colmans. So don't have too much ice cream in the park!
