The walk starts at Bere Hill Close (bottom end), Whitchurch RG28 7EB Grid reference: SU 46498 48715

Whole distance is 4 legs:

First Leg:  Start from bus drop off point (end of Bere Hill, RG28 7EN, Whitchurch (proximate to Whitchurch Police Station (Dances Lane RG28 7EG)).  Head cross country  NE to N of Overton, S toward Quidhampton (passing Overton Mill).  E beside railway line. S toward Polhampton Farm Road.   Continue S then SE to Ashe (2 hours/ 6 miles) for first stop (10 minutes). 

Second Leg:  from Ashe, E to Deane, S toward Steventon (across A3400).  SE on Wayfairers Walk, E to N of Bulls Bushes Copse. S across A30 and M3.  Pass to the E of Dummer to Nutley (further 8 miles (3 hours)) for lunch stop (20 minutes).  (total of 14 miles at this stage). 

Third Leg:  S/SE to Bradley, Gaston Woods, E to Bentworth (further 6 miles (2 hours)) for 10 minute break (total of 20 miles at this point). 

Fourth Leg:  5 miles to go - SE to Theddon Grange, Beech, Akender Woods, Alton (Market Square)

A 25 mile linear cross country route (approx 4 miles of road).   Walking through woodland and open countryside on public footpaths.   All roads are quiet country lanes.  No severe hills.   No styles.  Plenty of cover along the route when nature calls!

This is a 25 mile cross country walk at 0900 hours.   The weather is likely to be hot and the first leg will be walking East into the sun.    Although not hilly, it is challenging and a good level of walking fitness and walking experience is strongly recommended before considering attempting this walk.   

Bring sufficient food and drink (especially plenty of water).
