We are the Newark Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

We start at Ambergate station in the Derwent valley, climbing through ancient woodland to the historic village of Crich (famous as Cardale in Peak Practice). We then ascend to the Sherwood Foresters memorial tower. The descent skirts a disused quarry, crosses the Tramway Museum's tram track near to its terminus, and then winds down the hillside to the Cromford canal. We follow the canal towpath back to Ambergate.
There will be stops for coffee and lunch.

Start from Ambergate station car park Travelling along the A38, you leave at the Ripley exit and then travel along the A610. Approaching Ambergate you drive under one railway bridge and then the station car park is sharp left immediately before the second railway bridge, just before the junction with the A6. Car park charge is £1.50 and the machine takes cash or cards.
