A walk with views from the Cleveland Way in search of the medusa tree. Please note there is a strenuous climb on this walk through Battersby Plantation up to the Cleveland Way, a climb of 1,000 feet. Take this at your own speed, there are no prizes for being the first or last to the top! Once this climb is complete the views are stunning and the return is more moderate.
Assistance dogs only.
We will walk across the fields towards Battersby Junction then ascend the Cleveland Hills through the plantation up to the Cleveland Way. Our descent will be via the railway incline before breaking off right and heading back into the plantation in search of the medusa tree. This is an old oak tree said to be over 250 years old. Due to the location of the tree access can be difficult if the weather conditions are unsuitable so a decision will be made on the day by the leader to ensure everyone's safety.
There will be a ten minute break. Please feel free to bring a drink/snack to enjoy.
