This is a fairly urban section walking mainly on pavements and tarmac paths with a mix of pleasant residential streets and attractive green spaces: Westow Park, Biggin Wood, Norwood Grove and Streatham & Tooting Bec Commons. In the morning it goes through one of the hilliest parts of London so be prepared for some steep ascents and descents, rewarded with fine views. Lunch will be at the Rookery, a Grade II Listed Historic Garden, There are benches, toilets and a café but a picnic lunch is recommended as it gets very busy. Possible drop out at Streatham but the afternoon is much less demanding and we pass the magnificent Streatham Pumping Station and Tooting Bec Common before finishing in Balham.
