BOOKING ESSENTIAL
Note earlier start time.
A mainly gently undulating walk along quiet country lanes and rural footpaths through old mill country – lots of millponds and some ruins. Heading in a northerly direction, initially on quiet lanes then footpaths to Cheesden Brook, and then up to the ruins of Cheesden Lumb Mill, near Ashworth Moor Reservoir. Loop back and return via lanes past Walmersley Golf course and Gallows Hill to the start. Bring your own drinks and packed lunch for a short coffee stop if people want it, and a lunch stop by the old mill.
Risk assessment: One short section on a path alongside a gorge. One steepish descent which is quite short. Paths may be muddy, and if so, slippery in places. May be sheep in the fields. A few stiles, one or two in poor condition but navigable.
