Overview

BOOKING REQUESTED

Leaving the car park we walk through the woods to meet up with Fletcher’s Canal towpath which we follow to exit the park and pass under the M60 motorway, picking up the Salford Trail alongside the River Irwell to the A6044 where we cross the river into Drinkwater Park. The route follows the Irwell Sculpture Trail, passing the fringe of Prestwich Forrest before crossing the M60 via a footbridge. We follow a disused railway line past a former sewage works before descending to recross the River Irwell into the country park and back to the cars.

Risk assessment: The walk will be wet and muddy following wet weather. There are no stiles and we are unlikely to encounter any livestock.
